November 19th - Day Hike Backpacking Trip @ Blydenburg Park, Smithtown
Thanks to
all who participated in this Sundays hike and especially Mr. Ryan, our organizer.
Everyone seemed to have great time and in many cases experienced something new.
Hopefully this great day hike will encourage more boys and leaders to participate
in a potential backpacking trip in the spring. The Scouts did an excellent job
leading the walk. We may try and organize a camping trip around this park with
a hike on the LI Greenbelt trail. Stump

We camped next to the Webelos from Pack 244 and Pack 6249 and ran the backpack

was lashed together by a bunch of the scouts. Pictures coming soon...

October 13 - 15th, 2006 - Fall Camporee at Longwood Estates
We
had 26 boys and 10 leaders attend the camporee over the 2 days and our scouts had a great
time. The hard work of Greg and his staff, including Peter J., Billy B., Chris R.
and Michael F. paid off. The various events seemed to interest the scouts and we had
great participation. In fact, there may be several Karaoke videos floating around
demonstrating some of our Scouts' new talents. There were several highlights over
the weekend including Troop 244 winning "Best Campsite" for the first time at
this annual event. This is a real accomplishment for the boys! We also had one
of the winners in the scoutmaster cook-off with Mr. Koridiss Shin-a Fish.
Another big highlight for the boys was Mr. Ryan the Dutch Oven Master with his
great desserts and other treats. Next year we will even have an entry in the "Pumpkin
Chuckin' Competition" and not just a target (thank you Tommy L.). See pictures
here
