BSA National Council

The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

BSA Suffolk County Council

The Suffolk County Council provides a comprehensive, values-based program that develops character, teaches citizenship, and encourages personal fitness to over 31,000 youth each year. The council was chartered April 6, 1919 to instill values and expand the Scouting movement in Suffolk County.

The Suffolk County Council Service Center is located at 7 Scouting Boulevard in Medford, New York (A Mapquest map of the area is here). The center is open weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The telephone number is 631-924-7000. Facsimiles may be sent to 631-924-7145.

A retail Scout Shop, operated by the BSA National Supply Division, is located in the service center and is open Monday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Thursday until 8:00 PM). The Scout Shop staff may be contacted by telephone at 631-345-3979 or by fax at 345-5035.
